Short answer
Things 3 doesn’t support sharing to-dos or lists with other people; Cultured Code says so in its own FAQ. If you are the only person who acts on your list, that is fine, and Things remains one of the best personal task apps on Apple devices. If the people you live with need to see and complete household tasks, you need a shared system. DuetFlow is one built for that, on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
What sharing looks like with Things today
Cultured Code’s FAQ is clear: Things does not support real-time sharing of to-dos or lists. So households improvise. Alex keeps the plan in Things and texts Sam the parts that are Sam’s. Or the grocery list moves to Reminders while everything else stays in Things. Or Alex sends a screenshot of the weekend list, which is out of date by Saturday morning.
Each workaround works for a while. What they share is that one person keeps the real plan and everyone else gets copies. When Sam finishes something, Alex has to hear about it and tick it off. When plans change, the copies don’t.
What a shared system changes
In DuetFlow, “renew the car insurance” can be assigned to Sam alone, so it shows up in Sam’s Today view, not in a text. “Take out the recycling” can go to both of you with Any can complete: whoever gets there first checks it off and it is done for everyone. “Pack for the trip” can use All must complete, so each person ticks off their own part. Your private tasks stay in a separate private store and are never shown to anyone else.
The person who plans gets a familiar structure: Inbox, Today, a 30-day Upcoming, Someday, and projects whose steps unlock in order. Everyone else can live in a much smaller “what’s mine now?” view and ignore the rest.

Where Things is still better
Things is mature, available today, and beautifully made. Quick Entry, its Apple Watch app, the calm Today and This Evening split, and headings inside projects are refined in a way a new app can’t match yet. If you are the only person acting on your list, or a shared Reminders list for groceries already covers the rest, keep Things. You will not gain enough from switching.
When a switch is worth it
Switching makes sense when you notice yourself passing tasks on and then checking whether they happened. That checking is the hidden cost, and a nicer list can’t remove it. A shared system can, because the task carries its owner and its state to everyone it belongs to.
Try this first
For one week, write down every household task you hand to someone by message. If the list stays short, Things plus a shared Reminders list is probably enough. If it grows past a handful, a shared system will save you time.
